Love Isn’t Convenient

When I was a kid, and my mom would bring out a pie, I would get upset if my brother got a bigger piece. But I didn’t complain if he got a smaller piece.  It’s important to be fair, only if I was cheated.

When you REALLY love, you give. You make sacrifices for people you love. It’s easy to give away clothes I don’t like, or toys I outgrew. But real love means giving up things you really want. Look at what Jesus gave to us.

What Love Is : 1 Peter 3:16-18

16 This is how we know what love is: Jesus Christ laid down his life for us. And we ought to lay down our lives for our brothers and sisters.

17 If anyone has material possessions and sees a brother or sister in need but has no pity on them, how can the love of God be in that person?

18 Dear children, let us not love with words or speech but with actions and in truth

Jesus’ sacrifice is the ultimate example of love. He gave up everything for us, even His life. This kind of love isn’t always convenient or easy. It often requires us to put others before ourselves, to give up what we want for the sake of someone else. It means being fair and generous, even when it’s hard.

Are there times when you give only what is easy to give? Are there moments when you hold back from truly loving others because it’s inconvenient? Jesus calls us to a higher standard of love—one that is active and sacrificial.
